Installation, Repair and Replacement of John Deere Sabre 14.5/38 Hydro Tractor Drive Belt GX10851

Left-hand and right-hand are referenced from the point of view of the tractor operator.
The flat backside of the belt rides on flat idlers; the inside vee rides in v-idlers and pulleys.
This John Deere Sabre uses drive belt part number GX10851 which is 98.87" long x 1/2" wide, HA section, 0.31 thick, 32 deg., KEVLAR construction.

#1. Overall view
Overall view of the belt layout (#1). The engine pulley is at the right of the photo. The transmission is at the left.
#2. Brake latch eyebolt
The parking brake latch eyebolt (#2, white) must be removed to replace the drive belt. Bring the front loop of the belt forward over the parking brake latch rod and reinstall the eyebolt.
#3. Disconnect drag link
Disconnect the drag link from the steering arm (#3, red). Bring the front loop around the steering shaft and reconnect the drag link.
#4. Engine pulley
Remove the belt guide from around the engine pulley. Put the belt on the upper engine pulley. Be sure the belt is within the guide shown at #4, red. Reinstall the guide. Disconnect the forward hook of the large idler tensioning spring from the frame bracket (#4, blue).
#5. Transmission pulley
Run the back end of the belt around the transmission pulley and rear v-idler (#5).
#6. Tensioning idlers
Finally, route the belt around the tensioning idlers (#6). Reconnect the tensioning spring. Note the position of the spring's rearward hook (#6, white).
