- #1. Crankcase breather tube behind air cleaner
If it is necessary to remove the carburetor from the engine, remove engine trim as needed, then the air filter cover and air filter. Slide the breather tube (the lower tube in #1) off the rear of the air cleaner base.

- #2. Air cleaner body with three mounting screws
Remove three screws (#2) from the air cleaner base and remove the base. Pinch off the fuel line to stop fuel flow and remove the fuel line from the carb.

- #3. Gasket between air cleaner body and carb
#3 shows the back side of the air cleaner base and the gasket between it and the carb. This gasket usually gets damaged during Disassembly, Cleaning and Repair and is critical, especially for applications that use a primer.

- #4. Removal of throttle spring
Disconnect the throttle spring from the control lever (#4).

- #5. Tilt carb and slide off throttle rod
Remove the two carburetor mounting screws, and slip the carb off the dog-leg end of the throttle rod, lifting the rod up and left, and rotating the carb counter-clockwise (#5).

- #6. Carburetor mounting plate and O-ring gasket
The above photo (#6) shows the position of the screws that were removed. It also shows the O-ring fitted to the intake pipe.

- #7. Check intake pipe for looseness or breaks
Check that the plastic intake pipe (#7) is secure and not cracked or broken, especially if the carb or its mounting screws were found to be loose.
